Das Gut wurde 1892 von zwei Bruedern (David und Salvador) gegruendet. Zum Gut gehoert der hoechstgelegene Weinberg der Welt: 2000 - "Santa Maria."
The prestigiosus name "Michel Torino" is an amalgam of two winemaking families from Cafayate. David and Salvador Michel established a winery in 1892 and David's marriage to Gabriela Torino at about that time, produced the current well known enterprise. The soil of Cafayate Valley in Northwesterm Argentina - loose, nitrogen-balanced, permeable sandy oil- is an ideal medium for growing superior varietals. The altitude (1700) metres above sea level), the climate, hot days and very cool nights, and carefully controlled irrigation add up to the production of cuality wines.
